People in Need

Sandia in July 2011 (Age 11)
I began sponsoring Sandia through People in Need Partnership in 2010. Sandia lives in a slum of Port-au-Prince in Haiti. She speaks Haitian Kreyol. She was born in 2000 and lives with her father,a porter, and her mother, a housewife. She has one brother and three sisters. Sandia lives in a corrugated metal home with no electricity or running water. She sleeps on the floor. Her family struggles to meet the family's nutritional needs.

Sandia is very keen on going to school and will soon start third grade at a local school. She describes herself as obedient, courageous, serious, kind, cheerful, honest and respectful.

Recently, she tells me that she would like to be a dressmaker.

Below are the original photos taken for her profile while she waited for a partner. They include photos of her in her neighborhood and home. I believe these photos were all taken in 2009.
